Each year around 650,000 tonnes of waste are thrown away by households in Essex, about a tonne for each household, with roughly half of waste recycled.
With around 1.5 million residents in Essex and the number of households in Essex set to increase in the next 20 years, the waste produced in Essex is also set to rise.
Who are the Essex Waste Partnership?
The Essex Waste Partnership work together to ensure cost-efficient and sustainable household waste management is delivered across Essex.
Essex County Council are the Waste Disposal Authority, responsible for managing the disposal of waste collected by local councils. Essex County Council also manage the majority of recycling centres in Essex.
The district, city and borough councils are the Waste Collection Authorities, meaning they are responsible for services such as kerbside collections.
