Recycling at supermarkets and retailers

Lots of materials that aren’t accepted for recycling at kerbside can be recycled at supermarkets and retailers across the county. Everything you choose to recycle means there is one less thing headed to landfill!

Keep the contents of your general rubbish to a minimum and support the environment by recycling more items where you can. You can make this a part of your routine by collecting various items and dropping them off when you go for your weekly food shop or pop into town.

It’s hard to know what recycling services are available and offers often change. However, we’ve listed those that currently offer a recycling service for residents. Recycling services include soft plastics, cosmetics, electricals, clothing, batteries, and more!

Some supermarkets and retailers even offer money-off vouchers when you drop off your old items to recycle, so it's worth seeing what's available in your local area!

Please note, not all offers are available in all types of stores and locations, so please explore what is available in your local area.

Retailers must offer free collection (takeback) of used batteries if they sell or supply 32kg or more of portable batteries per year - that’s about one pack of 4 AA batteries per day!
