Essential maintenance works at Colchester Recycling Centre

From Monday 3 February, essential surface repair work will be taking place at Colchester Recycling Centre. This is to ensure the site can continue to operate safely and effectively. 

The repair work will be carried out in three phases, with each phase focusing on different areas of the site. During this time, space on site will be limited and we will not be able to accept as much waste.

The number of bookable visits will be reduced from 29 January until the work is completed, allowing for containers to be removed prior to the work starting. 

We understand that this may be inconvenient for site users, but we are making some changes to try and accommodate the reduced capacity: 

• Colchester Recycling Centre will open an hour early at 8am, to maximise available booking slots. Van bookings will remain from 9:30am. 
• as we will have less containers than usual, we will ensure these are serviced and swapped out frequently
• we will release some booking slots on a daily basis to ensure same-day bookings are available for visitors

We expect the repair works to be completed by mid-March 2025, weather permitting. Please consider visiting an alternative recycling centre during this time.
