How will you #ChooseToReuse this October?

Today, on #NationalReuseDay we are encouraging people to think about reuse. Keeping things out of the bin and in use for longer is good for the environment and can really help people out.

Across the UK, many good quality, perfectly reusable items are still going to waste every day. Research shows that more than half of the largest items like tables, chairs and sofas, that are taken to recycling centres for disposal could easily be used again. In the meantime, according to research by End Furniture Poverty, over 6 million people in the UK do not have access to essential furniture, furnishings and appliances.

When we #ChooseToReuse, essential household items can be given a new life and a second chance. Whether you opt to pass bits on to your neighbours; donate to the charity shop; list stuff online or give things away on Freegle, there are so many great ways to keep things in circulation.

Why not celebrating by having a declutter? Lots of us have far too much ‘stuff’ and it feels good to have a clear out from time to time. Plus, you never know, your old 'clutter' might be just the thing that someone else needs. By letting go of the things you no longer use, you could really help someone else out.

Did you know that over 95,000 Essex residents are already part of at least one of the 21 Freegle groups active in the county?

So get involved with National Reuse Day today! You can access resources, find ideas and inspiration, read reuse stories and watch a new film from Freegle.
